JSW Law and NUS Centre for Asian Legal Studies Sign MoU to Advance Academic Collaboration

Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law (JSW Law) and the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS), Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (NUS), have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), effective 13 July 2026, to strengthen academic cooperation in legal education and research.

The partnership reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing legal scholarship, promoting regional academic engagement, and creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration among faculty and students. Through the MoU, JSW Law and CALS will pursue joint research, academic exchanges, and the co-creation of seminars, lectures, and other scholarly activities in areas of mutual interest.

One of the first initiatives under the MoU will be JSW Law’s participation in the Centre for Asian Legal Studies Peer Learning Initiative (CAJPLI).

As part of this initiative, nine senior law students from the National University of Singapore will join nine students from JSW Law for a jointly delivered academic programme at JSW Law from 17 to 27 September 2026. The programme will feature comparative sessions on the legal systems and selected areas of law in Bhutan and Singapore, providing students with valuable opportunities to engage in meaningful peer learning, exchange ideas and perspectives, deepen their understanding of different legal traditions, and build lasting academic and professional networks.

JSW Law looks forward to a long and productive partnership with CALS, NUS, and to expanding opportunities for collaborative teaching, research, and student engagement across the region.
