FOURTH WISDOM FOR FUTURE TALK SERIES

The JSW Law Research Centre will host the Third Wisdom for the Future Talk Series on the theme “The Persuasive Mind: Reasoning, Arguing and Practicing Law with Clarity”, to be held on 5 September 2025, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Zhichenkhar, Centre for Bhutan Studies and GNH, as part of the celebrations marking the 70th Birthday of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

This session will feature Akhil Sibal, a distinguished Senior Advocate from India.

Mr. Sibal has been practicing in Indian courts, including the Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court of India, and various other High Courts and Tribunals across India, for over two decades. Recognized by the Chambers & Partners Asia-Pacific Guide 2025 as a leading practitioner for dispute resolution, he brings extensive experience across both civil and criminal law. His practice areas include commercial arbitration, public law, company law, and intellectual property disputes.

An alumnus of Stanford University and the University of Cambridge, Mr. Sibal was designated Senior Advocate in 2017. Over the years, he has represented leading corporations such as Reliance, Tata, Adani, Vedanta, DLF, and Larsen & Toubro, as well as global brands like L’Oréal, Zara, Yves Saint Laurent, Google, Apple, and Nokia. His legal practice extends across industries ranging from infrastructure and technology to pharmaceuticals and FMCG.

The talk will explore the art of persuasive reasoning and advocacy, highlighting how clarity of thought and expression is essential in the practice of law and decision-making.

This distinguished event offers a valuable platform for educators, policymakers, and students to engage with forward-thinking ideas on educational reform and sustainability, supporting the ongoing transformation of education in Bhutan and beyond.

2nd Wisdom for the Future Talk Series

On 16 May 2025, Her Royal Highness Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, President of JSW Law, graced the Second Wisdom for the Future Talk Series, organized by the JSW Law Research Centre. The event featured Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, who reflected on his book Enlightened Leadership, exploring Bhutan’s democratic transition. He highlighted wisdom, courage, and compassion—values symbolized by Rigsum Gonpo—and the role of Buddhist principles in leadership. A dialogue followed, emphasizing civic responsibility and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s decision to devolve power.

1st Wisdom for the Future Talk Series

On the 22 October 2024, JSW Law supported by the Office of Prime Minister and the Cabinet, launched the Wisdom for the Future Talk Series making the beginning of the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth King ahead of time. Nobel Peace Laureat Mr. Kailash Satyarthi talked on: “Right to Education of Our Children in the 21st Century” as the inaugural speaker of the Series.
