Dr. Justin Sobion brings over 22 years of legal experience, specializing in International Environmental Law. Holding a Doctor of Philosophy in Law (Environmental Law) from the University of Cape Town and an LL.M. with First Class Honours in Environmental Law from the University of Auckland, he has established himself as a respected academic and practitioner. His professional background includes serving as a Senior Tutor and Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Law, where he has taught various law subjects. Dr. Sobion has also worked with the United Nations, advising the President of the UN Human Rights Council and contributing to international legal proceedings, including representing multiple Caribbean nations in the ongoing ICJ Advisory Opinion on climate change. His expertise in environmental law, international trade law, and human rights law, coupled with his diplomatic experience, makes him a distinguished faculty member for the Indigenous and International Environmental Law course.
